Question on HDLoader.

Hi, all, just 2 quickies for those who are blessed to have an machine and another different region of HDloader.

1) Will a NTSC version of HDloader work with a pal machine with a mod chip that allows imports (say Magic V for series 10 machines?) and vice versa (ie. PAL HDloader on NTSC machine). Work as in allows you to copy import titles to the HDD and playback from it.

2)If I'm using a Pal machine with pal HDloader, will it allow be to install and playback imports - japanese title (same machine as above)

Thanks guys.

-yes, a us version should work on a modified pal machine.

- yes, imports and backups should work fine.

just bought a pal copy of hdloader from hdloader.org
I installed a new Maxtor 80gb hd and a sony network adapter but when I run the hdloader disk all I get is 'please insert a playstation or playstation 2 format disk'
anybody got any ideas - I tend to think the disk may be faulty!

I had the same experience on during my HD install. But after a reboot of the ps2 (without the HDLoader in the tray) and then putting the disk in it worked with amzing ease.If you have not tried this yet, try it out.

Thanks for that but tried this a couple of times with no success.
Yesterday when trying to get it to work it did load up just once and then quit to the 'please insert a playstation or playstation2 disk' after a few seconds.
Do you know if hdloader will run if there is a fault with either the hd or network adapter, or without the hd and network adapter installed.

u CAn put ur HD in ur PCand then put games on it, and put it back in ur PS2 so u can play those games

1. format it with HDLOADER cd (PS2 format)
2.get the prog to put the games on it(i have it)
3. have fun

but all this wont work if u ca't even start the HDLOADER cd.
I'll bet u have REAL copy, thus needing a chip to be able to read the HDLOADER cd..

Sounds to me like you got a cloned version e.g. PS2_Ownz so called free version. With FREE on it n crap

To double check, check the label on the dvd, is it peeling off? Does it look printed? Does the actual dvd inserts look fake?

Dude, you're a bit confused with some of these points:
1. Why format with the HDLoader and then take out HDD to place games on HDD on PC? Just use HDLoader to install...

2. You dont need a chip to play the REAL copy at all...

Hope nobody got confused out there...

I agree, you don't need a chip to play original games on the HDD.

you can get the NTSC version of HD Loader and play it you PAL PS2 (or vice versa) provided that you have a modchip installed..

one small tip

make sure your hdd is clean..if you're taking an old hard drive from a computer (like I did) give it an fdisk and wipe the partitions of it so it's like new...HDLoader will format the drive faster if the HDD is clean (raw) than if it's got data on it

I have the same problem, but my PS2 is chipped and I have a Seagate 120gb HD. Its compatible as I checked but the PS2 is Model SCPH-39002. Can anyone help me please? Even with the chip I had trouble playing copied games. Do you think the chip has corrupted something?

As well, I have installed on HDloader is Ghost Recon - Jungle Storm,Syphon Filter and when I go to play it the screen is black and nothing comes up. I let it go for about 2 minutes. Is this correct?

But I have loaded G1 Jockey and that is working fine.

Sorry about this but I only tried to use it tonight.

Swifty,

I first got the insert ps or ps2 format disc when I tried to install burnout 3 on my hdd. The way I over came this problem was to put the original game in the drive, and while the ps2 was still reading the disc, hit install. Once the ps2 read the disc and stopped spining, I got the error message.

Hope this helps a bit.
