Smile how do i make backups of my dvds

hi can anyone give me a helping hand i only have a few dvds and wanna know how to make backup cds of them as there badly scratched allready because of people using them all the time?

i have a cd writer and cd rom if i copy from one cd to the other or is do you have to compress the files or something in order to do it cause i aint got a clue ???????????????? anyone help me please

You'll find a DVD drive willl come in handy so you can read the disks

i allready have a cdwr/dvd rom what i wanna know is dvds are usually very big how can i fit them on to a normal cd so i can backup my dvds incase there ever to damaged to use

You can convert the movie into a divx file. This will compress it to the level you require. Try here

if i convert them to divx i cant play them on my actual dvd player when im watching them on tv can i?

No, but there may be Divx players in the future hopefully.

all i wanna do is copy a dvd to a cd so that it will work on my dvd player how can i do that? i dont want to convert it to divx cause they wont work on my dvd player anyone got any ideas?

regardless of how you go about doing it, you are going to have to make VCD's. thats it. you cant get around it. at least, not without getting a dvd burner.

really? or do you think the MPAA has a hand in it? im pretty sure they'd be very much against any hardware that can play dvd copies in a divx format.

I have a DVD-ROM & DVD-RW, What sftware can i use to make a backup of a DVD movie? or edit the movie to fit on a 4.7g DVD?

download DUP-DVD from this site then purchase the unlock key. its about £27 i think , very easy to use. it reads the DVD you wish to make a VCD of or SVCD of and then pop in a 80 min CDR and hit the burn key. it does all the hard work for you mate and works perfectly. the quality is as good as high quality VHS video tape id say . only downfall is, it takes around 12 hours to read a DVD before you can burn it back to cdr.
