You can convert the movie into a divx file. This will compress it to the level you require. Try here

regardless of how you go about doing it, you are going to have to make VCD's. thats it. you cant get around it. at least, not without getting a dvd burner.

really? or do you think the MPAA has a hand in it? im pretty sure they'd be very much against any hardware that can play dvd copies in a divx format.

I have a DVD-ROM & DVD-RW, What sftware can i use to make a backup of a DVD movie? or edit the movie to fit on a 4.7g DVD?

download DUP-DVD from this site then purchase the unlock key. its about £27 i think , very easy to use. it reads the DVD you wish to make a VCD of or SVCD of and then pop in a 80 min CDR and hit the burn key. it does all the hard work for you mate and works perfectly. the quality is as good as high quality VHS video tape id say . only downfall is, it takes around 12 hours to read a DVD before you can burn it back to cdr.

hope this helps.
