That is what your burner is - a TEAC CD-R55S with a different label.

How can you be sure ?
the name is Smart and Friendly CD Speed Writer, is there any
software that can identify the cd-writer ?

Also, I tried to use CDR ATIP Reader and CDR identifier and both
could not work with this cd writer (do I need to add ASPI in
Win2K for them to work ?)

Thanks :-)

The TEAC is not capable of those functions, therefore theSmart and Friendly isn't either.
You can verify that it is indeed what I said it is by spending a few hours searching using various search engines on the net
If you can already burn with it then ASPI must already be installed..

according to the page :

http://cdmediaworld.com/hardware/cd...What%20to%20get

Maximum Writing speed : 4X

Maximum ReWriting speed : no

Maximum Reading speed :12x

The amount of internal RAM/Memory, which is used for data caching :1 Mb

Supports OverSizing/OverBurning :Yes

Supports 80 Minutes CD-R's : Yes

Manufacturer ID Code - Yes means that this code can be read using for example CDR Identifier or Feurio! :No

The column tells how good the CD-Writer is in copying protected CD's in general. ++ - Very Good - Supports writing DAO in RAW mode using CloneCD

So most of the info is accurate, but the last part about "Supports writing DAO in RAW mode using CloneCD" - you wrote me that
you use cdrwin, but could you please state what options there
you check - for instance are these correct

- Reading options - RAW
Error Recovery - Abort
Jitter correction - auto
subcode analysis - auto
read retry cound - 10
subcode threshhold - 300
data/audio speed - X1

I am asking because I am not sure it suppots DAO+RAW

thanks :-)

I burnt with it in Win98 where I have ASPI 4.6, but on Win2K
I don't have ASPI installed - do I need to install it (and what version ?)

Thanks :-)

You are actually giving me hope that I won't need to buy a new
cds writer, but I just need to know the correct procedure to
create images from cd's and also write images to cd's, and since
you say that you have done it a lot, could you please be more
specific and elaborate - I am very gratefull for your help

Thanks :-)

I just remmembered what bugged me the most - when I want to
write an image to a cd in cdrwin and in the "recording options" of
the "Record Disc" page I check "Raw Mode" I get a message soon
after the writing starts that there was some error - do you know
what this is ?

Thanks :-)

I have already said - USE THE DEFAULT OPTIONS.
If you need ASPI - http://download.adaptec.com/software...aspi_471a2.exe

OK, I installed this version - just one thing - do you also leave
the Data/Audio speed of extraction on "MAX" and at what speed
did you burn all the backup's that you made ?

Thanks !!!
