@HANS_COBBO

Sorry about the rough start. If you look at my first reply to you, at the end I made a comment about hoping you don't read this the wrong way. also note that the message is "un-edited".

I think you can tell I'm not really a newbie. I'm just new to this forum.

Just looking for mutable solutions. That's all.

Once again I apologize for anything taking the wrong way.

Wrong!

I noticed you said about 3 times that there were no patches for dvd. That is false.

There are patches, but just patches for Pal/Ntsc and Ntsc/Pal and a few others probably. So far there are no antiprotection patches, since there really is no need for them.

GtMustangJim, to answer your question. There are patches for what you are looking for. And Im betting within time there will be a PAL/NTSC patch for BMX XXX (PAL) so it can be played here with NTSC consoles.

Here is a good site that makes PAL to NTSC patches:

http://ps2chimps.consoleinfo.com

I recommend you save its location for future reference. Make sure when finding the patch for the game, you notice that it says FULL DVD patch. Not DVD rip.

Also thanks for the tip about the censored US version. I think I may be getting the PAL version and wait for the FULL DVD patch.

The all knowing TYLER!

Scart sockets

Sorry for the pedantry, but just to avoid confusion on similar issues in future I'd like to point out that SCART sockets are only used in Europe and parts of Asia. In America and Japan they use a different (and more recent) RGB option called Component RGB, which involves 4 BNC or Phono plugs, not an all in one Plug!

An improved chip will allow play of the game on an NTSC PS2, as the NTSC machines will output only NTSC signals anyway. If there were an issue still, then a PS2 Component RGB cable should solve any colour problems, but Component RGB TVs are still in the higher price ranges.

Well, I live in England and i've never been to America so I wouldn't know what they use over there. Only a guess based on what we use and what would work over here...

The Scart socket is used in the US also.(although not widely used) It can be found on alot of the higher end TVs...

A NTSC PS2 w/modchip will output whatever signal that the game is coded in. If its a PAL game, then the output is PAL and etc...
A multi-system capable TV will solve all color and screen issues, BUT as stated they are definately pricey.....

Yes it is on some higher sets, but largely to allow access to imported devices and specialist switching systems - scart output is almost unheard of on any US VCRs DVD players or Cable boxes. The SCART cable is also known as the EURO connector! But I digress..

US PS2

Course, another problem with using PAL output in the US is their TVs - most can't handle a PAL signal properly, giving either a compressed image or rolling, much like European sets used to do in the bad old days. An external convertor would be a cheap solution but their image quality is always pants.
