PS2 Patches for DVD-R's???
 

Why aren't there any PS2 Pal/NTFS patches for DVD-R's??

This is the reason I ask:

SCEA forced Acclaim to censored the Sh*T out of it's up and coming new release of BMX XXX.

However SCEE (Europe) has decided to leave the game in its original uncensored form.

Note: Gamecube & Xbox are leaving it alone as well. Heck if anyone were to censored the Sh*t out of it, you would think it would be gamecube not Sony!

I have a friend in the UK that can get the SCEE version of the game for me when it comes out in a few days however there TV's are PAL and ours are NTFS.

What I'd like to do is Rip the SCEE version to my HD, apply some sort of PAL 2 NTFS patch, Burn it to DVD-R, and play it on my US neo 2.2 PS2 but, I guess I can't because I can't find any PS2 DVD-R patches at all. I just find the one's for CDR's <sigh>

Now I know BMX XXX is not out yet and I'm not saying I'm looking for a patch for a game that's not out yet. What I am saying is that I noticed I can't find any PS2 DVD-R patches out.

There must be a reason for this and was just wondering what it might be?

If I get a hold of the SCEE version is there anyway I will be able to play it?

Anyone have any ideas on how to solve my problem? I can only think of a few that aren't very good ideas

• Move to Europe (I wish)
• Buy a PAL TV (not worth the effort)
• Buy a Xbox (Sorry I hate Xbox)
• Buy a Gamecube (They lost my loyalty a long time ago)
• Just play the SCEA watered down version (puke)
• Just Give up!(never!!)

If your TV has two scart (AV) sockets, one will probably support PAL compression. Get yourself a PS2 to Scart (AV) lead. Not sure if you can get them in NTSC supporting countries but you probably can. Try each socket. Your console will play them if it is modded and even if your TV doesn't support it, you will still have a better picture when you play your PS2 games. Hope this helps. My TV only has "coax in" however I am in the market for a new TV. So that is one possible solution.

I might just break in and get a Xbox. I want to get DOA extreme beach V-Ball and that's on Xbox only. another <sigh>

If I do that then I have to make sure to find a ver 1 Xbox for latter modding.

I'd still like to know why there doesn't appear to be any PS2 DVD-R pal/NTSF patches?

Also if any else has any other suggestions I'm all ears.

URGH! I absolutely hate XboXes. Sigh is right. I would get a new TV, at least thats nice to look at. lol. And you don't have to build an extension to fit it in. :D

Thats funny me and you are alot alike. We both have the same ver PS2 (different mods) the same DVD-R & CDR Drives. I just upgraded my 1G T-bird for a XP2100+ and we both feel the same about the Xbox!!!

Next your going to tell me you like to play around with DSS stuff too! lol

DVD based games do not need to be patched. Also there are no available patches for DVD games out there on the net as of this moment. The only game I think that is protected is (PAL) DRAKEN, the NTSC version is okay. If I was you I would invest in getting another chip other than the neo 2.2 as they are sh*** and get a one of the new messiah 2 chips that are going to be available soon and import a (PAL) BMM-XXX if you live outside of Europe. And by the way the (PAL) version is still cut, believe me, I have seen the beta code and the final version still has certain features taken out, and I’m not going to mention what they are.

Another suggestion is for to wait for a rip kit to be come available then you could apply an NTSC/PAL patch or vice versa and burn it to a normal CD-R.

and where do you get the patches
I've been looking for a while and the only advice
I've had is get a decent scart lead.

Really no need for me to wait for a rip kit when I have a DVD-R burner and pretty good at burning PS2 backups.

Also can you give me more detail on "DVD based games do not need to be patched" You mean a PAL PS2 DVD game will play on a NTSF TV without some sort of patch as long as the PS2 is modded?

As far as my neo2.2 goes, all the swapping doesn't bother me too much. Is there a reason other than that to upgrade to messiah or one of the other top mods?

Oh just one more thing about SCEE ver of BMX XXX. Are you sure about it being edited like the SCEA ver? My source is Editor in Chief of PlayStation Pro 2 and he says its going to be untouched.

Okay, no need to be sarcastic. Basically like i said there are no DVD-R patches out there on the net. And i wasn't being funny about asking you to upgrade to a new mod chip. If you do plan on getting a PAL version of BMX-XXX then you will need to obtain a multi system T.V that can handle NTSC and a PAL signal, otherwise get a NTSC2PAL converter which are quite expensive. Coz if you try and run the game, the screen will be come corrupted and flicker, etc.


At the end of the day i'm only trying to help, as this is what this forum is for.

Well you sound like a newbie to me by the sounds of it, as if you know about copying so much etc, then you should have known the solution to your problem and technical info etc... And MEGAGAMES do not have DVD-R patches. I'm not going to argue anymore as this isn't going to go anywhere

I know megagames has no DVD-R patches I never said they did. That guy was asking for CDR patches and I gave him a link.

Mods please do not close this thread as I am only trying to find some suggestions to my problem.

Okay, it just sounded that way. PPF-O-MATIC 3 does support DVD images, which is odd as there isn't any. The only suggestion is that of my last post about getting a mutli system TV or NTSC2PAL converter or vice versa but it's down to the money if you have it at the end of the day. Other user' on this forum might have a better answer to your problem. (i.e. BG and Charlie)
