no.
what chip do you have ? there should be a certain button on the controller you can hold down on bootup to disable the chip, like START or SELECT. And please don't tell me youre trying to go online through a backup.

NO your not looking for an internal switch. If its a chip thats worth a crap you will be able to disable it with a reset/eject sequence or by holding certain buttons on your controller from standby. To play online with your originals you will need to disable the chip

You seem to think there is a "general" method for this.... well there isnt. If you knew what chip you had we would be able to tell you what to do.
What version is your PS2? When abouts did you have this chip installed? Who installed it? A lot of low end chip can be disabled by holding reset until you see the "Sony Entertainment" screen appear. But if its lets say a Duo2/SE in a V9-V10 then you will hold reset until the split second before you see the "Sony Entertainment screen". Now if its a high end chip like the ....... oh forget it!Figure out what you have and if you care post what you find here.

Well I think it's called a "magic boot 2" something along those lines, and it had instructions that if i wanted to watch a dvd i had to hold reset untill the screen had the ps2 thing on it, would that inface be turning it off?

Ummm the only "magic boot 2" that I know of is the "Swap magic boot 2" which is not a mod chip. I'm not sure about the DVD thing you speak of as most chips will read DVD movies with out the need to disable the chip.... but who knows. Until you know what you have its pretty hard to give a definitive answer.
