Backing up games & deciding on Mod-chip?

Hi,
I'm new to the world of backing up games, and I
thought someone could help me with this. First of
all, I was thinking about getting a mod-chip for my
PS2, but I don't know which one to get. Which one of
the external ones (w/1 wire to solder) is the best in
your opinion? internal? Is there anyway to play
back-up copies with just like a gameshark 2 so you
don't have to void your waranty? And another
question: How exactly do you patch the games when you
back them up? I have easy CD creator 4. Do I need
like Nero Burning Room? I notice that it speaks a lot
about bin files to patch, and I'm not sure what they
are. Can you help me decide and learn how to back the
games up?

Thanks
D

(ps: your help would be greatly appreciated)

first, get a internal modchip, if you can't solder get someone to install it for you. dont waste your time trying to use the cog, knife method or some gimmick to play backups do it the right way. adaptec software in my opinion is the worst for PSX, PS2 backups you will need cdrwin or clonecd however your burner must be 100% compatable with clonecd and cdrwin for it to work properly. As far as patching games and burning them the best way to learn is to read the forum. I have been a member for about a year now and reading the backpost from members like Charlie, DAl, Deano and Warlock( who is badly missed) is how i learned most of what i know. Burning games is not always easy and will require a little research but in the end the rewards are well worth it. Afterwards if you still have problems post them in this forum and someone will be glad to help. Good luck Brother D...Hope this helps alittle.
