wierd one this,i had the game installed...cracked with reloadeds crack..and had a mini image mounted...all from gcw.

and the game was running perfect for months.

i decided i wanted to reformat my drive...
reinstall all my usual crap

reinstall toca 2... and the crack no longer works :P

is it incompatable with daemon toolz 4?

yes i am fullt updated to 1.12 or what ever it is..and yes the game works no questions asked with teh legit dvd.

bit of a mind baffler for me this one. :P

but i have noticed now that my game is crashing in time trial mode (i have tried it with and without my steering wheel),it doesent crash with the legit exe,just the cracked one :S which is wierd cos it never used to.

this is my systems state atm..

xp digital media edition 2005
500gb hdd (internal,ide)

games installed- gun,pro evolution 5,nfs most wanted,toca 2,football manager 2006,colin mcrae 2005.

programs installed - ati drivers,winamp,avg antivirus,alcohol 120%,nero,dvd shrink,adobe audition.(obviously my mobo drivers,updates,etc)

everything else is like it when i reformatted it 2 days ago,just with the above installed.

all the games does is,as im racing along it just freezes at random times,and makes the noise of the accelerator being on full permantally until i reset my pc :P

i never had this problem b4 and my pc is more than adaquete for the game.

radeon 9800 pro 128mb
amd 64 3000 (400fsb)
2gb of 400 ddr kingston memory
500gb ide hdd 7200rpm

Did you change the vid card drivers? The current Catalyst 5.12 doesn't come in Control Panel version so I'm still on Cat 5.11.

I also ran into a graphic problem with the game except mine was with the menus, once I'd finished a race all the menu options looked like they'd slid off the side of the screen and didn't show the full text, I could still choose things but it definitley was crack related as the original is fine.

Someone pointed out to me that the crack could be from a download edition of the game like a Direct2Drive version and not from a proper cracked retail version, so it may not be fully compatible with the retail game?

what you said about the crack i quite believe,but i did have one crash with the original disc,so im a bit 50-50 on it,however the crack seems to crash reguarly on the time trial.

do me a favour and have a a few laps around lacuna seca on time trial and tell me if it crashs for you..cheers man.

i have noticed graphical glitches on colin mcraes menus,but not tocas (yet) lol.

DOH! That means I got to install it

Okey Dokey, did 4 laps of Laguna Seca in the Ford GT on Time Trial and beat the Ghost Car each time and no crashes, well no crashes to desktop but plenty of crashes into the barriers

Used the reloaded crack, have SP2 installed so didn't need to do any hexediting to get the EXE working, and the menus seemed to be OK this time?

So it seems OK for me now, mind I have just reinstalled Windows XP Pro so don't have much installed.

Maybe sound card related? I do remember Juiced hated the standard SB Live 5.1 drivers installed with windows, just before a race started when the woman walked between the cars to start a race it just quit to desktop, I installed either the LiveDrvPack.exe or LiveDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe and it stopped the game crashing.

I also noticed while playing Race Driver 2 with the standard windows drivers some of the sound effects where distorting heavily like electronic thunder, so obviously some sound issues there and might be the next thing to look at regarding crashes?

hmmm i do have a sound blaster,but its not in use for games,only my music recording..i use the onboard realtek ac 97 and i have the updated realtek drivers,as i know they crash stuff.

btw im not using reloadeds crack,thats what i used to use,but the one on gcw just asks for the disc all the time..im using the other one 2 spaces above it..fancy giving that one a whirl or uploading your reloaded crack? cos the one on gcw seems to be either a older non working one,or just doesent wanna work on my pc anymore.

You mean the Skuzz & Me one? If so that's a fixed version of the reloaded crack to work on OS's other than XP with SP2 installed!

I tried it anyway and it works fine on Time Trial, so did a Free Race at Laguna Seca and came first but the menu highlight went funny like before but the game didn't crash.

Go figure?

Can you get the game to crash as often with the original EXE? Because If the original game and the crack are crashing then I would think it must be something in your system being the cause.

Have you scoured the ToCA forum at Codemasters?

Looking at a few posts someone mentioned this:

I fixed my game crashing issue by turning off hi res glare and reflection in hood options in Advanced Settings. Now it works fine

Maybe it's some graphic options causing the problem? You have a 9800 Pro 128mb and I have an X850XT 256mb, could be why my game is OK as I run it with all settings maxed out?

yeh ill try those options,i would of thought radeon 9800 pro would be ok,cos at the time the 9800 xt was the main card around,and the pro was only just under the xt.

the crash seems random,so could be the reflection,not sure.

as for proggys installed,i had all the stuff i had installed before..but i had loads more before,so im baffled.

The no-CD crack for the 1.2 patch of the game works perfectly. I've never had the game crash on me and I'm already done with career mode and about a quarterway into free races...

@Joe: I guess you edited my post to allow 'live' links because it was to an official site. I usually try not to post 'live' links just to protect the board or if it's against board rules. I take it 'live' links are OK for anything official/legal?
What vid card are you using with ToCA Joe?

@glenbo: It could be Cat 5.12 being a problem you know? Older cards and newer drivers, maybe try an older driver if possible like on of the 4.xx drivers?

Oh, I'm using an nVidia Geforce 6600GT, with the 77.72 or 81.85 Forceware drivers (dunno exactly which one).
