matrix infinity v7 install - question

i goofed and crossed some of the pins (the M and N points for the Matrix Infinity) .. the solder has been cleaned up, but the multimeter shows a connection between points 6 and 7 (point N and the one between N and M) .. is this normal, or is there still something that needs to be cleaned up?

I believe it is normal. Just check with a magnifier that you have got all the solder off though before testing

well, i got everything finished up .. put the unit back together, plugged in cables, powered it on and ... black screen.

i'm thinking it's either the SX point or the points from my first post .. i wasn't able to get a good multimeter readout from any resistors, (including the SX) though. do they have an enamel or something?

also .. for testing purposes .. is there anything wrong with plugging the unit in without reassembling it? as long all the wires are in the right place, it should work, correct?

Black screens are caused by bridging on the BIOS pins. As for the fuses, I find you get better readings from smaller probes - if your multimeter has the thicker probes, you may find it slightly harder to obtain a reading. You need a magnifying glass to check the bios and remove that short.

black screens are also caused by the ba chip too.

Try checking your soldering and make sure the wires are in the correct possision and are not crossed or bridged.

i'm seeing a potential (as in, i can't see well enough to confirm) bridge between pin N and the one below it (between M and N - see picture) .. the amount of solder is so small that i'm not sure what it'll take to get it out. it also looks like it's in there pretty deep. i've already tried a solder sucker to no avail. is it time to buy some wick, or is there still another way to do it?
