Is it just me or ....
Is it just me or are xbox games nowadays not containing the old protections. Like the "Media checks" or even "FatX checks". Ive been making disc backups lately since I sold my old xbox with the larger hdd. Its like these new games come completely clean.
For example I couldnt find anything wrong with "Fable" when I FTP'ed it to my PC and made an image. Tyler!

My thoughts exactly Tyler.....For about 6-8 months now....all the games did require a patch....But I still do it from time to time just to make sure.....
The New Craxtion 4.0 gives me a weird message when I run it....So I use an older version still. Did SWBF today and everything was ok.

The media check protection lasted probably less than 2 weeks. And there aren't any more protections they can add for games now. They have to be very created, because the way games are copied makes it very easy to backup. Hardware checks are the only protectoins they can really have, and those were bypassed easily by crackers.
As to answering the initial statement, well, any new protection is usually bypassed with a new set of updated bios. Since most chips are upgradable with the great ease, patches are almost never needed. So as soon as MS comes out with a new protection, that is common like the past protections, the bios hackers will just update and release a new set of bios to bypass em in a week.

oh, and some software (like dvd2xbox) that copies files to the HDD patches on the fly, including long names. Even iso apps like craxtion patch games automatically. MS's "unhackable" system is the easiest to bypass. Since it is almost PC hardware, you can even flash the bios on the xbox mobo. They tried to eliminate that by pushing it down to a 256k flash, but that just limited people from going online for non V1/1.1 xbox's.

Yeah I understood all that. I was not using DVD2XBOX I just did an old fashioned FTP from a disc in my xbox to my pc. I then used Craxtion to make an iso. But you know how it normally scans for the protections. Well lately it has been coming up finding no protections at all. Its as if the gaming companies just said "screw it" and stopped using media checks or even fatx checks.
Its gone back to the way it was before these checks were in place. Tyler!

I haven't actually burned any games in a while. Never since I've gotten my HDD. And even if I did, dvd2xbox would have patched it anyway.
The protection was doing diddly squat. I mean, there was almost no point to doing it at all, especially since they are well over a year old, and can be bypassed by anyone without even thinking now. Maybe they are getting ready for a tough one? Nah, I doubt it.

I think the odd error may be that you need .net to run craxtion4 hope that helps.
