Stronghold Crusader Multiplayer Issue

I am trying to connect to a friend to play multiplayer with Stronghold Crusader, however we can't find each other. I've tried hosting and she's tried hosting and both ways we get nothing. I installed the game onto my laptop and was able to connect my laptop to my desktop, however, she and I can't connect. We even tried adding a port (7000). Does anyonw know why we can't connect?

Maybe IPX client, maybe firewall, maybe somthing else.
Don't remember if i ever had any problems with that game.

You could try hooking up with a crossed cat5 cable or with a simple hub on a lan. Try to simplify the setup (disabling running programs etc) until it works. You might also want to check if the Windows XP built in firewall is active, that puppy is pretty bad for games.
