ps2 remote control w/ v9/10

first off, this is probably the wrong place to post this message in, but since i couldn't find any other forum with as much technical knowledge...

i was wondering if it were possible to program a generic universal remote to the built-in ird port. all searches have come to nill, all sony remote codes i could find do nothing. any ideas, anybody?

best bet would be one of those learning remotes.
