ps2 freezes from time to time?

I have a messiah 2 installed in I think a v7 ps2
it worked fine for a year or so...
recently, it begins to sometimes freeze during transitions when it loads from dvd-r...
seems to occur randomly, only while reading...
anyone have any idea what the problem may be?

Your laser may be getting ready to quit on you. You could try cleaning it, and see if that helps or it may even need to be adjusted, which I recommend you have a professional do if you have never done this before. You could pm Spedmetal on this and ask him what his recommendations would be.

If you have been using Riteks, KEEP using them....

They are not the problem..

Try cleaning the laser FIRST....

Go to your local electronics store and ask them for a cleaning disc..

Try to get the ones that have the little brushes on it... (When you see one, you will know what I mean)

It is probably not from overuse...

I have a V7 & V5.. (V7 has Messiah 2.. V5 has original Messiah) They have both been ABUSED as far as playing them a ton.....And they have both seen Ritek dvds forever....

I clean them both once a week with a cleaning discs, and they will play any disc I throw at them....

Most laser problems in "newer" PS2's are because they have not been properly maintained and cleaned...

Give the cleaning a try.. You may be happily surprised.
