Question battlefield1942 start up problem

I have been reading about other peoples problems and used the search to try to fix mine but it seems to not work. I installed my backup copy of battlefield 1942 and put the crack and patch on. i can get into the game and click start for a level and when it is loading it kicks me back to my desktop about 3 quarters of the way through with no error message. i read that some people think it has to do with the sound card. But i have tried everything from changing the acceleration settings to disableing the sound card all together but i still have the same problem. if anyone has any idea how i can fix this and can let me know i would really appreciate it.

if i remember right when I had that problem. It was caused by using refresh fix for XP like reforce. If you go into that program and set it back to default it would let you load battlefield.

also try this

\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Settings

edit the VideoDefault.con file in there using Wordpad or Notepad.

Here's the important line:

renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 0

change this line to read

renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 1

***but my first post is what fixed mine

i've tried both of those things and niether of them worked. my refresh fix was already on default, but i tried other settings but they didn't work either. I also changed the VideoDefault.con file AllowAllRefreshRates to one and that didn't do anything either. The game is the deluxe version if that makes a difference. If you have any other ideas on what might fix let me know, thanks.

If you just see a blackscreen, then back to the desktop - it's the refresh rate problem. Download Reforce , make sure your monitor drivers are installed - if it's just plug and play - go find your monitor drivers. Install those. Reboot, run reforce. Click apply. Reboot. Edit your VideoDefault.con to allow refresh.

Do these things exactly, and if you still have the problem - make a query with EA support.
