Ready 2 Rumble PAL / Backup Problems

Hi,

I got some problems here backing up my R 2 R PAL (German).

I used CDRWIN for creating the image, after that I used it to burn the image back to cd but the game won't work.

My PSX2 is equipped with the neo 2.2 mod chip and I use DVD Region X to boot in another article I read that if you have a neo (no version specified) you don't have to patch but obviously I got something wrong there .

The problem can't be my PSX2 or the chip cos another backup (Silent Scope) I made with clone cd at a friends place just works fine.

Looking through the patches for Ready 2 Rumble I found a lot but I'm not sure which one to take for my version but I guess the ntsc to pal or pal to ntsc ain't got nothin' to do with that. So the last two I found on Gamecopyworld would be swap trick patch (euro/pal 1kb) and swap trick patch (uk/pal 4kb).
I have ppf-o-matic to apply the patch on the image can someone plz tell me which to take?

I still got the image on my HD, is it important how I name the image when saving? I saved like this c:\image\Ready_2_rumble_boxing__round_2
I used my recorder (Teac-CDR55S) for reading and burning, left all setting alone but set datat and audio speed to 2x and also recorded with 2x.
If there are any settings which would be important please tell me.

Could Clone-CD (which don't supports my Teac Recorder) make a 1:1 bootable copy? If so I'd try again at my friends place but I'd prefer to handle it with CDRWIN on my own.

By the way the other two patches say that they are EA patches, what does that mean? My #####r gave me a special description to boot EA games, so far as I understood there was special protection coming with Electronic Arts games so these games need special patches and different ways to boot them. On the german pal version there is nothing anywhere sayin' that R2R is an EA game. Anyone got advise on that?

I'll do my best on a technical basis (not having R2R):

Looking at the database on PS2OWNZ there is no need to patch the game for Neo 2.2. The proven basis (as with all Neo 2.2 solutions) is CloneCD.

That said, CDRWin should have worked. As there is a conflict to resolve as to whether a patch is necessary, I suggest that you use the swap trick patch (euro/pal 1kb) (not UK) with PPF-O-MATIC. In any case, PPF-O-MATIC will detect whether the patch is being applied to the correct binary. The image name doesn't matter.

For reading the RAW checkbox must be ticked. It doesn't matter for writing.

R 2 R 2 is not an EA game so the EA advice does not apply.

My advice to all NEO2.2 PAL users is to buy a RAW-DAO+96 compatible burner and CloneCD. It'll be worth it very quickly.

Hi,

Check out www.sgt-dan.com

R2R has its own booting method, this game has proven to give alot of users problems playing/booting this game.

Goodluck

Hi,,

I dont see any reason why it would not work using CLONE CD, for the sake of a CDR it must be worth seeing what happens isnt it???

But i do know it has its own booting method and im pretty sure its the same as the EA method, have you tried it???

I know SGT-DAN has been having a few problems on another fourm which maybe why his wesite down, ill find out.

Cheers

Hi,

just got an email from Sgt-dan his server is down, and he has no idea when it will be back online.

Maybe try in a couple of days or so.

Hi, (again)

Dan has just emailed me the the booting instructions for R2R, so here they are

Ok, well this is how to boot Ready To R2R2 with NEO2.

There is a patch for this game though

Uses the normal EA Boot Method to boot the game
As soon as the game starts to check the Memory Card Press EJECT
Wait a couple of seconds until the main R2R screen appears
Close the tray and the game should now work ok.

Because his server is down he has set me up a link for the next few days for download.

for the patch go here -

####://cut.iserver.net/sgtdan/Patches/aRR-r2rP.zip

This may or may not work as you have the GERMAN version which im sure is just PAL.

but its worth a CDR to find out, and let us know what the outcome is.

goodluck

thx for the tip bout the ea boot procedure

I made a backup with clone cd which works fine.

I didn't have to do that thing with pressing the eject button when the prog. is searching for the memory cards, maybe that's something specific for the ntsc version? I just insert DVD Region X, switch to standby for 5 seconds, press reset, hold the reset button to the DVD region select screen, let it go, wait for the door to open insert the backup after takin' out DVDRX and then press start. From then on it boots.

There is on question left though

Playing backups, espacially R2R, I get some louder noises outta my DVD-drive. I guess it's bout the CDRs I use (Tevion 16x 700 MB).

I often hear bout Verbatim CDRs, are there anything else comparable to these (and should be available in germany).

Btw, could playing backups harm the PS 2 in any way?

Well I'm glad I was right about the CloneCD copy working! But isn't DAL just great with all the trouble he went to?

Verbatims should be available in Germany; but Sony, Yamaha, Maxell - anything with a protective layer is good. On top quality disks, don't try to burn greater than 8x. On unbranded CD-Rs, 4x.

Backups will not hurt the PS2 in any way (but this advice is offered based on my experience and is not guaranteed!)
