Can this type of wire be used to install a chip?

I got a bunch of cat5 ethernet cable laying around, if i strip the individual wires out and straighten them, would they be ok to use to install my dms3? They look similar to the wires i have seen in pics of installs online. This is just to save me a few bucks, why buy more wire when i can use this? I know i would still have to find something to use for the power and ground, could i use some good sized speaker wire for that? Thanks for the help, my chip will be here this week, i got a couple more days to practice soldering, wish me luck on the install, it will be my first

Well, u could use the cat 5 wire but for the sake of a couple of quid why would you?

The first few installs I did I used any old thin wire lyin around and had real problems basically because the wire wasn't the right stuff for the signal quality needed.

I always use Kynar insulated AWG 30 wire for install ( except for Pwr and Ground) and have never had any problems with installations.

It on yr head if u use the other wire. It might be fine but u might end up having to reinstall.

Regards
