laser question
Is there any way to tell what laser is in a version 7 machine by the serial #. I have a version 7 PS2 with a KHS closed face laser, serial # starts with AU. My brother has a open face R type laser in his version 7 serial # starts with FU. I don't know if that means it is always like that or not. They are north america systems.
I am asking because I am going to purchase one more version 7 system, and I just would kind of like to get one with the open face laser, since I already have one with the closed face laser.

it was thought that the date code had something to do with it, but people proved it didn't so i guess you can't tell without opening the ps2
