I am so stupid, I let my nephew play with my XBox and well you guess,

I came back upstairs and there I was staring at a MS dash with XBox live there, He went and pressed the live update. Now I was easily able to reboot with an Evox CD and get everything back in order but here is my main concern,

I was never connected to the Live, no nothing just the game is what did this, now am I never allowed on XBox live beacuse of this??

I kept the original drive as it is never touched a file except to do the back up through the evox thats it. Is it possible to put the C drive back to the original state.

I don't have ADSL but they may be bringing it into the area soon so I hope I didn't F myself.

My fault though I was watching him and went downstairs and left him by himself so no one to blame but myself he is 7 years old not like I can hold him liable.

Now I know you guys get asked alot of questions and I even thought to myself at times how can anyone be that dumb and go Live by mistake and yet here I sit!!

I sit here shaking my head!! Thanks for your help guys, I appreciate it, and if worse comes to worse I will just buy an XBox for Live if I need it that bad.

Yes, leaving a 7 year old alone with $300+ of electronics makes you an idiot!

But, you say you weren't connected to Live? I'm assuming you mean the Box didnt have any internet connection. If it didn't you couldn't have been banned from the MS server yet since it wasn't able to verify anything.

Yeah well if you read my post I already called myself stupid

But if you think idiot is better lol anyways, I was never connected to the internet. I left him for a few minutes which I have many of times and he is quite responsible I just never thought of explaining why never to hit Live.

But regardless as I said there may be hope yet for live so I will have to wait and see it just would have sucked to been banned before I ever played.

Do you suggest overwriting the c partition with the original drive I deleted all the folders that weren't there before and deleted and put in a new xboxdash.xbe everything works fine I can go between dashes which I wasn't able to do before until I deleted the new live files, so as far as I know everything is as it was unless the sneaky MS planted a suprise for me.

Thanks Jive I really needed that reminder

no worries dude. my little brother has done the same to me several times. as you were not connected to the internet you should be ok to go on live when it hits you'r area.

i would sugest you re-write the c drive. this is what i did and every thing works perfectley.

i connected to the xbox using flash fxp and deleted the whole c drive while still connected i transfered a copy of my original c drive to the xbox and whalla job done.

just don't disconnect after deleting the nackered c drive stay connected untill you have transfered over the backup c drive.

Great,

I was kinda wondering how if you are not connected via live they can mess your Box up but I wouldn't put anything past the mighty Gates team. While this happened I was wondering why they wouldn't put some program on there that would search for a mod chip then delete your hd I am so glad they didn't but I was suprised it was so easy to fix!!

OK, I stand corrected - you're STUPID!!

Well "the mighty Gates team" would really love to BUT .... they can't put anything on your Box unless you are connected to their server and if they started making Xboxes with something "bad" on them you could just erase it and put the old drive stuff on it!

and don't forget that modchips are a lot harder for the machine to detect than you think. Once your Box loads the hacked bios the machine thinks that running Evox is what it was made to do instead of just MS stuff.

basically if you look in the files of most new games you will find a file called dashupdate.xbe this is the programme that actually updates the dash to the xbox live dash while connected to live. if you'r not connected when some one hits live it just screws the file called xboxdash.xbe even so you just boot using a evox cd and copy over a backup of the dash etc. its when you'r connected that they actually obtain the id of you'r xbox and ban it from their servers' how it's done i don't know it just is.

sorry if this makes little sence i just finnished a 17 hour shift and i'm about to hit the sack.

Thanks,

No that makes perfect sense, to ban an XBox they must have the XBoxes MAC address in order to ban it. Now that I think about it the ISP I work for before an ADSL customer can use the internet they must register the MAC address of there ethernet card.

thanks all, probably may never have to worry about it before XBox Next but you never know, technology grows each and every day.

I'm not really sure if they ban by MAC or some other number tied to it somehow. Anybody know?
