PS2 - CD Format Game Backup

I am trying to make a backup of the new dancing stage game for the PS2. The game is called Dancing Stage Megamix and is in CD and not DVD format.

I have tried Nero as a cd copy, CDRWIN making an image, the copy process appears to work ok but the game will not boot.

I am using AR2, and the game starts to boot but only gos as far as displaying dots at the bottom of the screen.. these dots appear on the original but only for about 1 - 2 seconds.

I have also tries booting the orignal until it asks for the language selection and then swappting the disk for the backup but the game hangs.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Léon

Either Nero or CDRWin should copy this just fine, unless... it has copy protection.

However, if you don't have a MOD chip, your AR2 is pretty useless in general... don't be surprised if there aren't LOTS of games that it won't boot copies of.

Now, if you DO have a MOD chip... then I might suspect protection on the game. In that case you'll be needing to use CloneCD.

You should ALWAYS be doing a copy via an image.

Even if your machine is fast enough to make on-the-fly copies, many will not work properly in a PS2.

Question

I'm using the exact same setup as yourself Leon and also trying to copy 'Dancing Stage Megamix'. Three cd's later I'm still stuck with the dots but no loading! I've d/l Disc Juggler and tried but it's doing the same. Could you tell me what settings you used with this program and a little on how to use it please?

Cheers

Paul

Try CloneCD or Alcohol 120%. These pieces of software are better and both the program and the tutorials are available here.

OK, so in conclusion, it's either substandard media OR, it is incompatible with your Neo and AR2 mod combination

U could try one other thing. Stomps Record Now Max is excellent at backing up PS2 DVD but also very good at doing PS2 CD as well.

Give that a try although I can't think why Alcohol wouldn't work......Unless as mentioned before the Neo don't like it.

Hope this helps....

If they have a blue dye at the bottom they should be fine. Maxell aren't very good for PS2 at all...

If this fails, It looks like your Neo chip doesn't like it - so it's a new mod...

P.S.: Ottoman's right. I use the Verbatim DataLifePlus discs and they are THE best!
