Recordnow Max Question?

Hi Peeps

Wondering if any of you peeps could help me with a rather minor problem that i have?
I have been writng my dvd discs with (don't laugh) nero and after seeing some of the posts on various sites have been advised it is 'at your own risk' so i have started using recordmax now 4.5

But now here's my 'problem' ...when i select the burn speed of 1x and insert my disc it starts up telling me the total burn time of say 64mins but then as it finishes initialising the disc the time suddenly drops down to say 28mins if i am using a 2x disc and even lower if using a 4x disc....does anyone know how i can prevent this as i want to burn at 1x to get a better copy(hopefully) I presume this program is analising the disc speed and writing to the optimum.
Thanx in advance

Sometimes a 1x recording can cause problems as well, eg the disk and burner can get too hot.

If Recordnow Max does optimize the recording speed, I don't know if it does, and the end result works then I wouldn't worry about it.

Happy burning.

Yep cheers for that chromedome..but i have had a few failures,ie:- the discs 'stick' after so long in the machine...mostly after a hour or so...i have tried using various media discwrite, datasafe and have had the same results..so that is why i was wondering if nero was to blame??
I have been in touch with recordmax now and they confirm that there is a 'glitch' in the program that makes the proggie write at the fastest speed possible ie:- it analizes the disc speed and writes to the optimum...but they say a update will be released shortly to correct this and other minor glitches..

Thanx for the reply...will keep on trying until i get a proggie or media that makes me less coasters lol..

I don't know if this will help your cause at all, but I originally had my Pioneer A04 hooked up on a shared channel with my older CD-RW. My burns would stick about 2 gigs in. I just put the Pioneer on its own channel and now it works fine. No problems with any media I've used. I also get "MAX Write Speed" when I go to burn, but so far so good.
