dcdivx: video wont load

ok...

downloaded dcdivx4dummies and all the rest of the needed tools, followed all the steps from the homebrew web site and burnt the cd with the video on it (about 6mb in size)(used nero)

now, when i boot up the cd, the program shows up with the name of the video. but when i press the button the video starts loadin but it never gets loaded. it kinda freezes.

is it because the video is to small (it was just a test video)and the dc wont ever read the whole cd or what. i dont see any other reasons.

please help me....thanx in advance

ps. i did convert the video to the dcdivix format and everything

Actually there is a small bug that if the video file is less than 300KB or if an audio file is less than 40KB, it will not load. Don't quote me on those exact sizes, but it is around that area.

You can make videos as large as you want and they will play fine as long as you encode it correctly. Also, make sure your videos have an AVI extension. It does not matter if the extension is displayed or not when you select the file to be played as long as it has it.

so...

i got a bigger video now...animated (lion king, 101mb)
burnt it and when i put it in my dc, sometimes the program doesnt load, but sometimes it does.

now, when i play the movie, almost every 10 secs it freezes on a frame but the video (audio only) keeps playin.

could that be a problem with the video or does the player have some bugs related to that too???

PS. the audio and the image is great.

thanx

are you sure your divx files are encoded right as they have to be at a low bitrate to work!

i did follow all the instructions step by step.

the only thing different was theaudio compression because i wasnt able to save the file with a 40kbits/s,22,050 hz, stereo-5kb/s, so i had to choose 32kbits/s,22,050 hz mono-4kb/s. do you think that was the problem.

That's not the problem. Somewhere along the line you missed something. Which version of virtual dub do you have BTW?

i have the latest version. but i think youre right. i might've missed something, i dont know.

i did try to burn a bunch of other small videos and they worked fine. it might have been my screen saver too that was on, maybe, dont know for sure.

anyway, i love this divx player man, it's good quality stuff. thanx to all the people that worked on the release.

thank you again Hacker999.

NP man.

And yeah this is quite a nice program. I converted all my anime to play on DCDivX and now I can watch it on my TV and it saves me loads of space since the files sizes are much smaller.
