A few questions from a newb

I'm relatively new to this all, and I have a few questions. I have a version 4 PS2, which I have modified with a ext. ModCube. I just went out and purchased a GameShark 2 to use as my bootdisc, but I can't seem to figure out which version it is. Also, whenever I attempt to load it up, If the modchip is on I get a screen that says playstation with gibberish below it, and if the chip is off I get the invalid disc screen. I know my chip is in and working properly because I have been able to play PSX copies on it properly.

SEcondly, regarding the PSX copies, a select few copies are coming up and attempting to display a screen stating that my console has been modified. I was under the impression that the PS2 modchips were able to get around this.

I apologize ahead of time if the answers to these questions are "common knowledge".

Hi Matey,

those games that say that your console has been modified will require you to patch the game first. I have never come across that myself but it seems thats the way peeps go about booting those backups.

what games are you trying to boot?? do you know if they work from another source ie boot using your mates ps2 etc etc.

Have you made sure u are using the right booting method for your mod and GS. They should of given you a booting method list with your mod. If they have not get on the phone or send an email and ask them how do u boot ps backups.

Post some more info we should be able to help you out

I have an internal mod (NEo2.2) and use the region x as boot cd so i have no experience in the mod your using, but im sure there are other peeps on the fourm that do.

I'm not actually having problems booting any PS2 backups as I haven't made any yet. My problem is that the GameShark that I purchased is not booting itself. I'm just getting these strange characters. I would also like to know how I determine what version the GameShark is since my chips instructions say that my playstation will need at least v1.4.

I've tried switching it off, at which point I get the red "please insert a PSX or PS2 disc" screen.
