All Star Baseball 2004, 1rst coaster...

I just tried backing up All Star Baseball 2004 and cannot get it to boot. I have a V4 NTSC with no-solder/Swap Magic & a V7 with Magic 2. I have a Pioneer A04 drive using Verbatim DVD-R. I use Record Now DX. I have back ups of about 25 games and have had no coasters as of yet. That is why I am so confused about this one. I have tried burning at 1x and 2x. The 2x hangs at the loading screen. The 1x won't even load. While loading ( I should say trying to load) there is a lot of noise from the laser. It is the same on both PS2's. I have always used MAX as "READ" speed with no problems. I have not tried a slower READ speed on this game. Could that be the problem? How important is the READ speed? If MAX speed has always worked before why would this game be different?

Thanks in advance!

If this is a cd game like platinum says, you should be using CloneCd to copy.

anyone???? I should also add that I burned it to my HD first. That is how I always have done it. Would a 1 to 1 copy work better? I don't want to make anymore coasters.

All Star Baseball 2004

It is a DVD based game. High Heat 2004 is CD based. Yankees I got a backup of it. I used Record Now Max have a V7 w/ a Magic 3.6 mod. The media I used was Memorex V2 DVD-R.

Hope it helps

Memorex? I have not used them before. What speed did you read & write at? Did you burn to HD first or make a 1 to 1 copy? Thanks for the replies.

Memorex

Yeah I was having problems with my media on all my backups not just this one. So i went out and looked at different media..Memorex and Pioneer worked for me.

They are about 4$ a pop at Comp Usa...36 for a box of 10.

This is what they look like

I just did a straight exact copy using the wizard in Record Now Max.

good Luck

Thanks Mr. Ricky. I guess I will go buy a blank Memorex and try a 1 to 1 copy. I was always told Verbatim is best. This was my first coaster with them. Even GTA Vice City didn't give me this much trouble. Your help is appreciated.

Just an update. I took the advice of Mr. Ricky and bought a 3 pack of Memorex DVD-R. I burned at 1x and the game now boots fine on my V7 with Magic 2. It will not however boot on my V4 no-solder/Swap Magic. Might be a laser issue. I always thought Memorex was "cheap" media and didn't work well but it sure did on this game. This is the only game that wouldn't boot with Verbatim. Thanks for all the help and advice!
