Possibly a codec problem.
to find out if you have the codec required to play the movie installed download GSPOT from the link below.
Install and run it and load your movies in and it will analyse it for you and give you the info.

From what you have said i suspect the problem is to do with
pal/ntsc issues not with the dvd players but with the TV sets.
As a check do all the movies that play in black and white do so on the same tv eg, your mates????
This would be wether using a dvd player or a ps2.

You could try a simple nstc/pal colour converter .

BG is on a distinguished road
I beleive the company that sells the convertors is called Maplins... Charlie_PS2 (one of the mods on the PS2 forum) has one, and I beleive that is where he purchased it from.... Try sending him a PM or email....

The quickest way is to go and edit the .IFO files and change NTSC to PAL reburn the DVD and problem solved.

YOUR DISCS ARE PLAYING BLACK AND WHITE BECAUSE THERE IN NTSC COLOUR . GO TO SETUP ON THE DVD PLAYERS REMOTE AND CHANGE THE OUT PUT TO RGB IT WILL NOW PLAY IN COLOUR. RGB SHOULD BE SET ON ANY DVD PLAYER TO GET THE BEST PICTURE.
