Making backups of DVD movies??

Hello:
I just bought a Sony DRU-500 burner and My Dad Has The movie The Patriot and I would like to make a back up ,Now if you can do it can someone guide me through this I have Record now as a burning program and I have gone to Pc copy world and it is shut down ,Can someone help me Thanks for the input.

Did you want to backup the movie into VCD or SVCD so you can still play it on a home DVD player, or did you just want to create an AVI file and only be able to watch it on your computer?

go to dvd section and search!!!!!!
