Unhappy Playin DVD Backups

Sorry if this has been asked before, I couldn't find it I have the no solder mod chip v2 R Mod, I finally got ahold of the Devil may cry Demo so I could attempt to play the DVD backups. Unfortunately when I try the swapping method that I was given it doesn't work. Its been great for playing cd backups, but DVD backups I cant get it to play. I've followed the I was given for the DVDR ones (Booted from the gameshark CD, waited till at the main menu, hit the eject button, replaced the CD with "Devil May Cry Demo", waited 30 seconds, chose start game, chose without codes, held down the eject button so it flashed green to orange, replaced the Devil May Cry Demo with the DVDR I have, let the drawer close by it self, and then hit X) It freezes up at this point. I've tried this on a couple different DVDR's..am I doing something wrong? I'm pretty sure I'm making the dvd backups correctly also. Im using Prassi PrimoDVD to make the backups. Are there any other swap methods that might work? Or am I doing something wrong? If it helps at all my PS2 is a 30001 and my DVD burner is a Pioneer DVR 103. The DVD's that i'm burning the backups on show RITEKG..01 using that ADVDInfo program. Hopefully I didn't forget any vital information. If you have any ideas what I could be doing wrong or what I should try it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

DR

Forgot to add. I also tried the other method for people who have the gameshark higher than v 1.99. It froze up at the screen where it says updating codes

I tried the two boot methods listedfor the no solder mod and for some reason on the DVD Backups it freezes at the part where its supposed to actually load up the dvd backup How likely is it that out of the 5 or 6 DVD backups that I've made (at least one or two at 1x) that all of them using the Ritek 1's are bad? Are they really that bad that they are more useful as coasters or frisbee's?

I'll see if I can find a small pack of better quality DVDr's out there to burn a game to in order to see if it works, even though the stack of DVDr's that I got was pretty expensive (I purchased them quite a while ago in bulk) I'd actually prefer I guess if it was just crappy DVDr's that were causing the problem and not the mod chip. Those DVD's have been good for burning movies on to so they'll still have some use. I've never soldered anything before so the no solder one was the only option for me really... Without the serious risk of melting my PS2, burning down my house or soldering my hand to the PS2
Thanks again for any info or suggestions!

BG is on a distinguished road
Could you give a little more info on your 30001..... How many screws on the base, how many in the expansion bay, etc.... It could be that you have a V1-V3 which sometimes have a hard time booting dvd-r backups....
But definately try some better media.... As Dust says.... That could very easily be your problem....

Thanks for all your responses. I recently got a email back from the company that I bought the mod chip from. They say that the DVDr's will only work if I use Gameshark v 1.9 Does that sound right? Also, I've looked at the CD that came with the gameshark (in the very hard to read area on the CD). It seems to have 2 different version numbers which is kind of confusing me as to which version of the gameshark I actually have. Here is exactly what it says:

Playstation 2, Gameshark 2, Version 2, Americas 1.99d

Sorry for the stupid question, but does that mean I have version 1.99d or version 2? If I do have version 2 are they correct in saying that I cannot use this gameshark version to play DVD backups and will need to purchase version 1.9?

To answer the previous question on the bottom of my PS2 it has 4 screws covered by little rubber coverings. The case didn't actually come completely off in order for me to put the mod chip in, I had to semi-bend the plastic covering up a little to put the mod chip in. I see what I think are two screw holes inside the expansion bay. Sorry if I'm looking in the wrong area for this
