Soul Calibur black screen (Not PAL/NTSC problem)

Ok I've search this board and found some instances of the problem I'm having, but still I have no clear and precise answer.

I've burnt this Soul Calibur .cdi a few times (with DJ v2 and 3.5)and I'm having no luck, the thing is not selfboot so it boots up just fine with the use of the boot disc but cuts out some way through the intro. From there I can get into the options and such but as soon as I try to start the game in any mode it just gives me a black screen with zero disc activity (I've left this to sit for a while and it's really doing nothing).

Can anybody help me out, I'm not a complete newbie at this sort of thing, but I am new to dreamcast image burning. Somebody mentioned here that copying the game solves the problem, but that doesn't make any sense to me, if one disc doesn't work, why would a duplicate?..

Thanks in advance for any help.

There is also a 50HZ fix, perhaps that will work!

Nah it's really not a display problem, my TV is ok with 50 and 60 Hertz (it gives me the choice before starting the intro), it's simply a loading problem. I wondered if there was anyone who knew how to burn this thing properly?

I'm not changing any settings in DJ when I burn, just bringing the write speed down to 4x and writing.

Thanks anyway.

Have you tried the game in another console, because i had also such a problem with Vanishing Point, after the movie it was only a black screen than i take the console of a friend and it played well on the same tv! Both consoles are Pal.

Perhaps that is the problem, although I don't really know anyone else with a Dreamcast that I could test my CD out on. I've not had any problems with any other .CDI images, but I guess that doesn't mean a thing, a problem will always come out of the woodwork sometime or another.

I guess I'll just have to deal with this thing refusing to work, thanks allot for your replies though, it's greatly apreciated.
