ghost recon vs ghost recon desert siege

i have searched, i have originals and am trying to back up both discs of the GS w/ds expansion pack for my 11 yr old who just purchased--scratched cds are common in my house.
i have downloaded official patches and downloaded no-cd fix and replaced. game works fine but it is desert siege. i want both original and DS.
do i use backup options or no-cd cracks with separatly installed directories?

Have you tried using CloneCD? I've made perfect backups of both cds using CloneCD w/ ClonyXXL no patching necessary. Download the programs and give it a go.
