Lightbulb Anyone tried a non-windows OS to read GC disks?

I've read the forums and seen many mention ways to read with Clone-Cd but not given enough details of settings, dvd-drive used to read the image, etc. Also, I have seen posts with people trying to read the filesystem (If data was REALLY extracted)

You really think that Nintendo would use a filesystem used by Micro$oft when everyone knows how buggy and faulty Windows has been ? C'mon... just look at their "historical reputation"... <g>

Has anyone tried reading in Linux, BeOS, FreeBSD or even under Mac OS X??? those OSes can read many different filesystems, so there is a possibility there that the filesystem (if enough data could be extracted/read from the GC disk) could be interpreted sufficiently to allow a faster hack/backup method.

Maybe even an old filesystem like Amiga or something like the Xbox did, use something that was already known but no one was known use it (IDE HD Security thing). Maybe Nintendo just researched current technologies and discovered they could use a filesystem no one would expect and maybe use some obscure or arcane security setting that its not publicy known. Remember, the Xbox is also a next-gen console and it uses a security spec that has been around for years, and no one thought that anyone would ACTUALLY use it!!!!

Just my opinion...

FreeEnima?
I was using my g4 mac with superdrive and running OSX, and as soon as I put the disc on the comp it crashed and I was unable to restart the comp succesfully, so I had to manually eject the disc before my comp would start up again.

OS doesnt matter. It's just that windows is easier to develop for. Software that can read past the dvd encryptions is what really matters.
