Gran Tourismo 3 freeze prob???

NTSC v.5
GS2
Pioneer A04
Verbatim DVD-R
No Solder Mod

Have successfully backed up all of my games. GT3, however, is givin me a problem.

Copy was successful, and i can boot it and make all the necissary steps to play, ie- pick track, pick car, etc.

however, when the game is to begin, it freezes.

it gets all the way to game play, then locks.

thoughts? i burned and read @ 1x. The original plays fine.

(had a similar prob w. THPS3, where it would freeze on the competion levels)

any help or suggestions are appreciated.

It may well be the DVD-R media. If you compare a Princo, for example, with a Verbatim, you'll see the differecne in the top cpmpound, where reflection occurs. It may be that there just isn't enough reflectivity on certain individual disks.

DO you use cheap DVD-Rs?

another isuue could be ur dvd laser, I have pretty much the same setup as you except PAL ,

I have had some dvd-r that boot and then freeze during gameplay, ended up send that ps2 away to be realligned, only this was the bloody console was only a month old, I think the cause of the damage may come from trying to boot oversize dvd-rips I remember its drive making some nasty ticking sounds when I try and boot em... before I knew about the dvd-rip issue

then about a week later my once perfect dvd-r copies started freezing and skipping...

the ticks could be stressing the mechanics of the laser?

anyone have any thoughts???
