Reading burned cd's on a dvd drive

Ahoy.

I used to be able to make cd's with my burner and read them just fine on my Smasung DVD drive. The Samsung is more reliable and faster for mp3 ripping. One day she decide not to read burned cd's period. I tried re-installing windows and reformatting thinking maybe I lost a .dll or something. My CDRW drive is RWD RW4224(which I cannot find any firmware updates for) Is there something I need to install or enable on my DVD drive to get it reading burned cd's again? Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this type of question.

Erm..sorry I can't help ya out much.

Did you use unbranded discs? I used to be able to read these fine - but I can't read them at all now (drive spins up like nothing on earth, and sometimes makes a clicking noise).

If I use verbatim I have no troubles at all.

I have a Toshiba CD-ROM. Perhaps your DVD is saying a fond farewell as it dies?

Once again sorry for not sending any sound solutions.

All the best.
