need a good solder iron
I need a good solder iron for placing mod chips in psx. Is there anyone who has done this before and could tell me wich iron he uses.

Hi JoRay,
Well i would recommend a Antex soldering iron of about 18Watt's, i would not go for anything higher myself as too much meat could result in damage to the main board, get the smallest replacement bit you can that will fit as some of the joint you will need to make are very small. Use an 18AWG multi core solder and make sure that the joint and wire are tinned before you make the joint, this will reduce the time the iron is in contact with the board. By "tinned" i mean melt a small amount of solder on the wire and the proposed joint before actualy attepting to make the joint. You may also want to invest in a desoldering pump and maybe some solder wick, just in case things go wrong and you meed to remove some excess solder or re do the joint.
