What IDE *and* SCSI DVD reader to choose?

I am going to buy two DVD drives: one IDE for my dad and SCSI for myself (this last one should also be a good reader to copy CD's on the fly).

I wonder which ones I should choose to have RPC-1 (region free)support. Any suggestion?

Patrick

Have a look at The Firmware Page (http://perso.club-internet.fr/farzeno/firmware/) to see whicjh DVD Player supports RPC1

For me the Toshiba's are the best as they also support reading RAW

Indeed to what I found out till now (on the page you mentionned actually combined to clone CD's), Toshiba was one of the best ones. The "only" problem is that I didn't find ANY recent rpc-1 SCSI solution: or it is old or it is rpc-2. Any other clue where to find the marvellous firmware?
