help with creating backup of The Sims

I have tried to create a back up copy of "The Sims" using easy CD creator 4.03 with little sucess, when i tested the backup cd it ran the autorun and installed the softwre but when you came to play the game it just said insert cd-rom. when i looked at the properties the original has 488MB where as the backup only contains 468.9MB, why? I then tried to use CDclone but this just say that there is an error reading set of information when you look at the log file. I have made risible all the hidden files and have tried the "copy to" function in my computer but that doesn't work either.
I am using a LG re-writer (CED-8120B) and a samsung reader (CD-ROM SC-148F F007). It was suggested that i used clony to fine out what protection the sims was using, its using safedisk. I just dont know what to use. I cant find a no-cd patch or a fixed exe.
Thank you for your help,
