odd problem involving boot discs and ###ne

hey all,
I have a chipped ###ne which cannot direct boot imports (the older chip) and i'm trying to burn a boot disc i can use.

I borrowed a Xploder CD9000 from a friend and that loads imports fine. But when i copied it (Using Nero 5) it won't boot directly. If i swap it with another burnt pal game at the black psx screen it will boot from there, but this defeats the purpose of a boot disc.

I then reburned the disc at 1x with CDRWin, same this happens, i then burnt a gameshark cd (i patched it as Euro licence first) with CDRWin, then burnt Import Player with CDRWin, all at 1x.

When Import Player failed to boot direct but succeeded with a swap, i figured something must be wrong with my burning or something, because Import Player is intended for ###ne's.

Another interesting fact is that all these discs boot directly on my old SCPH-1002 PSX, but i don't use it for games as the laser is almost completely buggered.

It can't be that my Modchip isn't working because all my other 70 PSX backups work. (PAL ones boot direct, NTSC ones need swap unless patched). And because they boot on my psx, it doesn't seem like its a problem with my burning. But i could be wrong.

Any help? Im really desperate and annoyed.

i have a ps1 with an older chip and i went to megagames.com clicked on utilities d/loaded the ps1 boot disk and burned with cdrwin and it works fine on all import games and any other game that does'nt load, try getting the boot disk from m/games,

I did get the boot disc from there, and it works a charm, but my point is that it won't boot on the ###ne directly, i need to swap it with another game (copy or original, so it isn't the modchip). Same goes for copies of Gameshark and Xploder which i burnt. And swapping kind of defeats the point of making a boot disc don't it?

But this same copy will boot in my older PSX SCPH-1002 directly. So im confused on why, see what i mean?

Ohh and all these images were the right region, so they don't not boot because of the territorial lockout.
