Come on Bot-ck I challenge your knowledge....

I think your the only person that can offer a decent solution to this problem i am having with R.E 3.
I have a working backup of the game but I want to make another copy off the back-up.
I have tried using loads of different settings using CDRwin & also tried burning with fireburner( i use this to burn all other games as my writer is Phillips based - freecom).
I have even tried cloneCD (dont like this prog. very much).
Everytime I test the game on my chipped psx it gets to the intro screen and freezes.
I have even tried re-patching the game. but to no avail.
Help me please!!!!!

BOT is on a distinguished road
Cannot help, I use a TEAC scsi to backup.
If you read and have no errors, the resulting .bin has no corruption , and you use good quality cds, all I can suggest is that you follow the suggestions made here with Phillips based burner.
No point in re-patching already patched games at all.

Was the working backup created with the burner that you have?

I agreance with BOT, if you dont get read error's then the bin image has no corrupton, no patch required because the original backup is already patched, so the only possible cause is the Freecom burner or the media.

My own thoughts are that the working backup you have was created on a different burner and it's your freecom thats causing the problem.

If you search through the posts you will find further information on how to backup with Phillips based machines, as i know some members did work out a solution for this.

The solution for Freecom burners was to write using Fireburner, but you already do that.
Make sure you write TAO not DAO.
