PS2 MOD CHIP and BACKUP Help

If you know the answer, please help!

Currently all Mod chips out there will require the swap trick and patches for your backup games to work.

Once a new Mod chip comes out that DOES NOT require the swap trick, will I still be able to play the current backup games?

I'm asking this because we currently need to add patches to the games in order for it to work with the swap trick. I'm just afraid that once a mod chip come out that doe not use the swap trick, the games we have now won't work.

Any thoughts??

I had the same concerns. With blank CDR media being as cheap as it is, I've been making an unpatched backup on one CDR and a patched backup on another CDR.

For the patched CDR, I use higher quality, more expensive media like Verbatim. But for the unpatched CDR, you can use cheapo media like Hi-Val or CompUSA.

This has already saved me once since my patched NHL 2001 got a little scratched and kept locking up. I just re-read my unpatched NHL 2001, re-patched it on my hard drive, and burned another copy.
