UK Dreamcast + US/JAP Games = Nothing!!

so here's the deal.. i recently purchased an imported UK DC (manufactured in 2000 but not sure in which month ).. unfortunately, muh idiot retailer only gets games from US and Japan..dont ask me why.. any way, i tried playing many games on the friggin thing, but all i get is the "insert game" boot screen thingy.. im guessing i have to burn the game wit a pal/ntsc patch, but i tried that and got nothing.. i also used a boot cd (Utopia), but got the same results..
so what do i do? im a complete newbie at this stuff so go easy on my @$$.. and if ur wondering why i didnt purchase a US made DC is because i live in India ( also known as the ' land of no consoles') and they dont get these type of things everyday...
