Newbie need some information....
Hi,
Im new to all this backup subject but I have a few questions about it. 1-I guy I know install mod chip 2.2. Is it good? I live in Canada. 2-Is there a way that installing a mod chip can mess something in my playstation? (short and long time...) 3-When your playstation 2 is chipped, do you need the gameshark to play the original games that you already got? 4-Can it mess up something with the DVD player or it will play like before? 5-Does the game in 1-2 years will work with this mod chip or I will have to change it like every 6-10 months. Thanks for your help and sorry for my bad english..but I did my best... Devilix |

1. From what i hear the neo 2.2 isn't all that good.
2. The neo 2.2 does damage the laser, other mods do not. 3. Originals boot normally, the GS is for booting backups. 4. The DVD player will be fine. 5. Your mod should last a long time as far as i know. |

the type of modchip you can install can depend on what version the motherboard is. you can check this here: http://www.modchip-sbox.com/howtoIdentify.shtml
start there. then try checking out http://www.lik-sang.com for finding the right chip. |

However Origa is hard to install and you will for sure mess up your machine if you don't know what you are doing. Therefore if you are install the Origa, you better get a Pro to install it for you. |

Ok..if I do a recap...
1-Neo 2.2 is not that good. I should get a messiah. 2-Messiah dont need a gameshark or anything. 3-If a game work with the neo 2.2...its sure to work with the messiah 4-The messiah represent no risk of any kind for my PS2 and can be installed on a version1. Im I correct or I did a mystake somewhere....???? Devilix |

2- Messiah does not need any kind of boot disc. It direct boot everything 3- You are right 4- Yes and No Again, forget about Messiah unless you want to wait until it support all model which may take forever or you sell you machine and get a US V4. Did I pick a mod chip for you..... tell you what.... you won't regret if you install a Origa. |

Mr. Blue, use primoDVD found here ( http://www.psxcopyworld.co.uk/Downloads.htm ) to do 1:1 backup of DVD games, and yes, you will need a mod chip (one that will play DVD-R) like the messiah or origa.
