I'm looking around and seeing the pioneer ao3 a lot but I've looked around the web and found an hp100i, panosonic lf-d311 and so on. The price seems to be in the 300 dollar range at the lowest. My question to the experts is what makes one stand higher than the rest of the pack. Also how long does it take to burn a dvdr (curious). Thanks in advance to any replies

It really depends on what you are wanting to do with the drive. Just about everybody on the PS2 forum uses the Pioneer A03 or A04. It seems to work with everything. Like what was said above, usually takes about 30-40 min. to burn a DVD-R. IF you are still wanting to burn CDR's I would suggest getting a seperate drive because the A03-A04 will not burn sub-channel data. I would get the LG GCE-8320B. It writes at 32x, safedisc 2 compatible, and writes ALL subchannel data correctly. Cost about $90-$100 US. Hope this helps!!!
