Does the COG/KNIFE trick work on the Version 4 of PS2.

I've tried it several times now and I cannot get it to work. I am using a Game Shark 2 1.4. Any suggestions or comments?

I have never used the cog/knife method but it's my understanding that it will not work on the version 4. You will have to install a mod chip.
