File Upload set to max 40MB (7z), 8MB (RAR) & 1MB (JPG) - Use it!!!

It is now possible to upload files with a max filesize of 40MB (7z), 8MB (RAR)

The JPG filesize has been upped to max 1MB

If possible use this upload feature to include files into your posts, so that the files never expire (which happens with most free sites when files are not downloaded anymore for a certain timeperiod)

If these sizes are not enough we can always extend these sizes to fit our needs

A few files have already been moved to FileForums so don't be surprised

NOTE: Use the upload feature just for files which are useful for others, do not use it to upload requests fixes, error/problem pictures and such

Its only 8Megs lmao NOT 800Megs..The way some of these conversions go we could do with what I have for all my CSS stuff...(Dedicated 1TB server..)

Lol!
Some conversions like recoding videos will require other services but for simple things like DVD9-2-2xDVD5 which only require the msi changed it's excellent.

The problem is with a 800MB limit that people will start uploading complete CD-Images and in no-time it will be a warez infested forum. This is exacly what we do not want as it will involve a whole lot more moderating...

What about this idea: One can have up to 8MB to store simple conversions / tools. If someone needs more space for e.g. recoded movies, then such person could make a request for extra space to a moderator.
This will avoid superfluous space allocated for short files.
I think this will help what EMPiRE tries to avoid.

Nice, thanks. Now i don't have to fiddle with free file sharing sites.

nando2002 suggestion is great, but i would like to see that some people who have contributed lot for this site over years by making conversions and being very helpful to others (like mondragon, nando2002, FREEMAN100) would get bigger max filesize limit, like 100MB+

@ ravd: I checked out the possibilities to increase file allocation within vB and it is possible to setup things on this end

A few year back I was thinking of setting up an FTP alongside FileForums to handle bigger files for use with CD-2-DVD conversions but for some reason this project was abandoned.

We will have to see if a 100MB filesize will work or not but this can always be modified

I'll PM you, mondragon, nando2002 & FREEMAN100 when I got it setup and if you want to make use of it or not

Taking all the other free sites out of the equation has to be a good thing..So its a 10+ from me..On the note of some people uploading complete images or other infractions, allowing extra upload space for some people is also a great addition & will probably help out no end..

It will make a weird change to be able to click on a link & NOT have to type in the meaning of life to get the download link..

Yes anything which removes rapidshare\megaupload etc links is always going to be a positive move for everyone involved.
