Um, NO. This is one of the biggest myths about the GC. If that were true you would not beable to use standard ISO9660 DVD-r with 1.4GB of data on them for use with back-ups.

The reason your PC DVD drive can not read the GC disk is mainly down to the fact that the gamecube disc does not have it's TOC located in the standard location, which is at the start of the disc. Instead it has a barcode their (which is used in copyprotection as well).
