playstation game back up

It's been a while since I did this but, how can I make a working iso by taking the files from a playstation CD?

I used to use mkisofs but I can remember every step I took to make the iso. I copied the files with iso buster, then copied the LBA values to a file, converted that file to a sort file usingg f2s, then burned it using cdrecord. The game boots but it shows a messed up psx logo, then appears to start but all I get it a bunch of garbage on the screen. I seem to be missing something but I can't remember what.

I don't want to make a direct copy of my disc. I want to know how to reconstruct an image of the CD in an iso format (bin/cue is not gonna cut it for me).

Anyone know or is there a better way to make a bootable iso by copying the files off the CD?

Do not copy files from PSX CD (mode xa). Just use Alcohol 120% (PlayStation profile), Nero 5 or 6, CloneCD (best is PSX Libcrypt but can be also data profile). To reconstruct files from ISO make iso open it with CDmage (latest is beta 5) and extract all files from iso. Use PSX ISO Maker to make bin cue format. For this tools search google or get them from my site www.dreamplay.prv.pl

Thanks for your response DrEaMpLaY. But do you know any methods where I can reconstruct the iso into ISO format and not the BIN/CUE format?

Nope. No any working methods. You can only modify existing files with cdmage but you need file with the same size (only can be smaller - will be fill by zeros on the end file).

rest of the files in archive are files to make game compilation so dont use them.

hi i'm new too

here is a link that tells you exact how to do it.
http://www.megagames.com/psx/psx_patches.shtml

i used it too back up my FFVIII for psx
and use a patch for some cheats.

now my problem is: the patch does work, but the game does not.
when the game should start, the screen just stays black.
does any1 know how to fix this?
