Intel 3.0e H.T 800 FSB Heat Issues

wanted to know do all Intel 3.0e and above processors generate a lot of heat , like before i had an intel 533fsb 2.4 non HT and the temp would not go above 50c even in games.

Now after i upgraded idle temperature is about 48 to 50c and when playing games i check it out it goes to about 60c.

Is that dangerous ? , i turn on the a.c in my room when the room is cool enough i check the temps again idle is about 42c and when playing games is about 54 to 56c.

i also have a 6800 ultra in the system due to the hear i have opened the side of the case , i was thinking of puting a small blower fan which will proivide cooling for the entire case.

maybe the temp go down with that.

any further idea how to reduce the heat..

Is it a retail CPU, that means did it come with a genuine Intel heat-sink/fan?

What thermal paste are you using, did you use thermal paste or go with that useless heat pad that come with the heat-sink?

Clean out your vents on the front and back of the computer case... and put the case back on... Most cases are designed for an airflow to pass over the RAM and Processor, from the front, out the back... make sure also that the fan is pulling air AWAY from the processor, not blowing it on the processor... make sure that the front vent is sucking in air, and the rear vent is blowing out air... it's best to have some case fans for proper air cooling....
