Question Need advise on how to make identical copy of PS2 CDs

Its about exact copy, not about ripping!

I've some PS2 CDs stamped & CD-R media types. Its 80 Min CDs for PS2 with mod-chip.
No one cdrw software is able 2 properly read it, so I can't even proceed with write. Only CloneCD can read those but it thinks that CD full of bad sectors which he convert on dummies. Used also Clony XXL w/ CloneCD - same result.
I've Teac CD-W524E (firmware 1.0d) & CD-W540E (firmware 1.0c) CDRW atapi drives. Aspi 4.71 adaptec. I think its not bad writers at all, isn't it?
Some software (like Record Now Max) indicates that these CDs written in CD-XA mode2 format, but it doesn't make me closer 2 make "normal" images of any those CD-Rs.
Tell me, which software I should use 2 make exact image & burn it?

Thx.

P.S. I tried all known popular CDRW software about 20 appz w/o any results, so if U tell me 2 choose which I was already tried, tell also full settings 4 it.

Clone CD will NOT make an exact copy using your Teac 524E..
The burner has to be 100% clone cd compatible.. The 524E is not.
(It doesn't write regular bit patterns correctly)...
I don't know about you 540E... Its not listed on the Clone CD website as being compatible.....

I use the same setup that you use EXCEPT I have a LG-GCE-8320B burner..... I burn 80min cd-r's fine.....

It sounds to me like you have a burner problem.....

Go to this website to find a 100% compatible burner....

Teac CD-W524E - ATAPI/IDE - - RAW-DAO 96 RAW+96 RAW+96
does support all needed read/write modes, look carefully.
Table is clear says it.
Just "Drive writes regular bit patterns almost correctly".
This is Correct EFM-Encoding option.
Is that U mean prevents it from reading discs properly?
But this option touches write, but not read capabilities.
U something messed up w/ your explanations. Be more specific on whats wrong, cause writer fits req conditions according CloneCD site supported models info.

Still didnt get from point on how to ....
But I welcome all opinions.

CloneCD Version?

I had some difficulty getting used to the new 4.xx skins, and started creating coasters. Went back to an older version, and it's doing much better for me now. Don't know if maybe some changes in the newer versions was monkeying me up, or like I said, I just wasn't used to the new interface and flubbed some settings somewhere. I can e-mail you some older versions if you want to try them for good measure. Currently using 2.8.3.1--it has limited options to choose, also more limited drive support...but it is working flawlessly for me right now.

Good Luck!

I'm using CloneCD v4.0.1.9 , but have even much older than yours versions if it. Writer new so I must stay w/ new version of software. Old CloneCD vers didnt understand my writers.
Also used CDRWin 3.9a (25 June 2002). It also think that CD-R full of bad blocks.

But I'm sure in 2 things: Media is 100% CD - on some discs wroted type by Sony itself, they stamped. Some CD-Rs are regular. But if inserted in PS2 w/ modchip plays normally.

No any result yet. Ppls how can it be: seems right hard & soft but not working?

Ar you by any chance using a Cracked Version Of Clone CD?
Just wondering because if you are, that is all it will do is give you errors and make coasters.........

Like I said, I can burn 80min cd-r's with my burner fine.
It is 100% compatible. Yours is 98%....

Maybe you could try a different type of media.....

Cracked CloneCD

Good point BG--I'd forgotten about all the cracks floating around for CDRWIN and CloneCD.

Test the drives ability to read the disc with ISO Buster. You can find it all over the place, just search the download sections. If the data appears ok (you should see something identifiying the media type and the Playstation name somewhere in the first 22 sectors) then it probably is the software, not the hardware. You can try pulling the ISO off with ISO Buster, then use CDRWIN to burn the ISO afterwards. Other then that, I got no other ideas.

Good Luck!

OOPS!

Sorry, I ment to use Sector View in CDRWIN to look at the data on the CD's. Use ISO Buster to extract the ISO though.

Been a long day......

I'm using boxed retail version on CloneCD & CDRWin. no any cracks. Again BG U say: I can burn. I'm worring about make image 1st, only then burn. W/o image burn is impossible. Should we bet on that?
Any other PC discs I can copy w/ any protection. These only PS2 CDs not.
CDRwin or Isobuster doesnt show me any data in 1st sectors, like there is only "bads".
Iso buster just indicates that this is Mode2 XA form2 CD, but cant do iso from it as any other app I was tried, soft rejects it.
I repeat these discs I tried - nicely working in PS2 modchipped consoles (PAL).
So whats wrong: soft or hard ?

I'm not sure what is going on.... You said your writer supports EVERYTHING Clone CD needs. When in fact it supports ALMOST everything needed..... If it cant write regular bit patterns CORRECTLY (EFM encoding) then its NOT 100% compatible.... (AS YOU SAID TO ME!!!! LOOK CAREFULLY...TABLE CLEARLY SAYS.)
The burner I use IS 100% compatible... I write a image of every game I burn, then burn from the image....
As my signature says, I have a Chipped PAL console also and all my burned games work fine....
So you have the decision, IS IT THE BURNER thats the problem or something else....... Sounds like the burner to me.....

BG...Curious about the EFM

Just curious--the EFM Encoding.....is that something to do with the error correction schemes? I know some drives won't work because they will still do error correction even if the software tries to bypass it. Is that what the 524 does?

If so, then he is definately screwed because the first 22 sectors will be FUBAR, right? Or would zeroed out dummy files be of any use? Just a bit perplexed about what the drive WON'T do, trying to see if we can work around it somehow.

Thanks!

Raist
