dvd decrypter 2002 lockups

any time i try and read or write using dvd decrypter 2002 (v3.0.something) in iso mode, my pc just locks up straight away forcing me to reboot.
i have installed hopefully correctly,forceaspi as suggested but any research into the problem has just drawn a blank so far. decrypter seems to work fine otherwise (rips in file mode).
any suggestions i would be grateful for.
an running a rather underpowered athlon 600 with sony u10a dvd rewriter (on same ide channel as hard drive) with lg cdrom and teac 54ek on the other ide. all drives seem to work fine for clonecd 4.
help please
