How can I patch Ikaruga to 60Hz?

Any idea how I might be able to patch Ikaruga to play at 60Hz on a PAL DC?

The standard patch doesn't work

Thanks

Yeah, I downloaded it this morning (believe it or not it's only a 20Mb dl). The nfo says it was released by W00T (never heard of them) but it definitely works. Only problem is, as I said, that it runs at 50Hz on a PAL machine, and the standard patch doesn't work (I also tried the Pal Patcher util with all the other patches and none of them work either).

Am I allowed to post here which newsgroup I got it off??

I've just burnt it, it's coooool.

It works fine on my PAL DC. You can't remove borders, since they are on original game...

Trust me, it's running in 50Hz (my tv's display tells me). The borders are there top and bottom on a horizontal tv, or at the sides on a rotated tv (like i'm using).

I suppose we'll just have to wait and see if any groups can release a specific patch for it. I'll just try and pick up a 2nd-hand US/JAP Dreamcast somewhere.

Thanks anyway, have fun with it.

If you don't care about wasting 1 CD, try this :
_ open Ikaruga image with an hex editor
_ look for "0B 42 09 00 03 88 04 8B"
_ replace it by "0B 42 09 00 03 88 09 00"
_ burn it and test it
_ tell me if it works

Megalexxx: I tried it, but I can't find that particular hex pattern in the .cdi. Do you have any others I can try? I don't mind wasting CD-Rs...

Thanks a lot

I just tried it, but it's still 50Hz

Any ideas, or should I give up?

Thanks for your help Megalexxx.

60hz fixes

Hi Megalexxx, just wondered if you had any other 60 hz fixes for PAL DC games? I have a few old ones I'd like running at 60hz.
Also what Hex editor do you use to apply these fixes?

Thanks for any info...........

Slipperchin: for most games which run at 50Hz on a PAL DC, you can use a hex editor to search for:
01 E4 03 A0 02 E4 01 A0 03
and replace it with
00 E4 03 A0 00 E4 01 A0 00

Doesn't work for these though:
Surf Rocket Racers
Maximum Pool
Sno Cross Championship Racing
Hidden + Dangerous
Quake 1
Midway Greatest Arcade Hits
Wild Metal
Bust a Move 4
Virtua fighter 3tb
Rainbow 6
Urban Chaos
Sonic Shuffle
Railroad Tycoon 2
NBA 2K1
Armada
UnderCover A.D.2025 Kei
Ikaruga
And probably some others as well.....

I use a hex editor called Hedit.
