xbox 360 how to update firmware

guys just wanted some basic information , i dont have the option for xbox live , i mean i dont have a decent enough internet connection , i want to update the firmware to the latest one which is coming the new xbox experience or what ever it is called.

now i tried to copy the older file , which was on the website to a cd but when i boot the xbox with the cd in it , it just does not read it and says its a mixed mode cd or dvd

how do i update the xbox with the new firmware coming out in a couple of days . please help ... the only option i have is to copy it to a disc or dvd and then run it .

just how do i do that , please help

secondly , if i have a moded xbox will the firmware work on it , or will it stop the xbox from working properly .

The update won't appear on a disk for a week or 2. If you don't have the internet, then you will need to wait for that to come out.
